Christmas candle

I found this wooden box at a thrift store earlier this summer. I thought it would look cute painted with a candle added. I put it in my stash to makeover for Christmas decor—this year it was three storage tubs of items to makeover for Christmas—I am nowhere near being finished—sigh...

As with most projects, the piece usually needs a good cleaning. Then I added two coats of Waverly Chalk Paint in the cashew color.

Then I distressed it with sandpaper.

And then I added a coat of Varathane Crystal Clear Satin Polyurethane. All I needed now was a little Christmas!

I added a flameless candle (as I am not responsible enough to use real candles—I forget to blow them out). I also added some greenery, but I thought this wasn't "Christmassy" enough.

So I amped it up a bit with some additional greenery and some pinecone picks. Now it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

No time for photo staging! This one went right into the car and went to Primitive Gatherings for the open house this weekend (November 1 -2). If you are in the area, stop by! There are soooo many pretty things there—I got a sneak peek this evening and there is some great decor!
