Chunky Candlesticks

A coat of paint can do wonders. It can freshen up a room, revive a piece of furniture or in this case, give some outdated candlesticks a fresh farmhouse vibe. I picked these up at an auction about a month ago.

These wooden candlesticks were mismatched and a little grungy. I began by just giving them a good cleaning.

This image shows all the dirt in the cracks and crevices. This will affect how your paint will stick to the surface. Krud Kutter works wonders.

I gave them each two coats of the Waverly Chalk Paint in the Cashew color. This color of paint almost always takes two coats.

I used 100 grit sandpaper to distress the candlesticks in various area. Then I added a coat of Varathane Crystal Clear Satin polyurethane.

This project was really simple. It took less than an hour. I didn't get a chance to stage them for a photo, they went right into the shop for "Fall Fest".
