Fabric and paint can make such a difference for a tired piece of furniture. It is an easy way to add a pop of color to any room. Footstools are also perfect stools for a child's room—a perfect little spot to read a book.
I find a lot of footstools just like this one. Classic needlepoint with a plain wood frame. The fabric is often worn and dirty, just like this one. The tips of the feet also have a few "chew" marks on them.
I always begin by removing the screws holding the seat to the legs. Then I strip the fabric from the seat.
The base was painted with Waverly Chalk Paint in the Cashew color.
The piece was distressed with 100 grit sandpaper. A coat of Varathane Crystal Clear Satin polyurethane was added to seal the paint.
This beautiful striped canvas fabric was the perfect pop of color to bring a breath of fresh air into any decor. This would look great on a sun porch or a child's room.
