I bought this round table at an online auction. A friend was nice enough to pick it up for me when my plans changed and I couldn't make the pick up time. As soon as I was able to pick it up, I knew what I wanted to do to update this table.
It was dated, but I knew painting it would give it an updated look—and it wouldn't take long at all. The table was sturdy so I didn't even need to glue it. It doesn't get simpler than this.
I used Rustoleum Milk Paint in Highland Blue to coat this piece. It took two coats to cover this completely.
I wanted it to have a distressed, beachy look. I used 60 grit sandpaper to heavily distress the piece. Then I coated it with Varathane Crystal Clear polyurethane in the Satin finish.
Now this table is updated and would look great in a sunroom with bright floral fabric (as shown on the chair here) or it would look great on a porch serving up a tray of lemonade or ice tea.
